BUNYA Productions is a boutique feature film and television production company based in Sydney and Brisbane, Australia.

Bunya has produced and collaborated on a slate of award winning feature films, all of which have premiered at a top international film festival; Mystery Road (Toronto), Toomelah (Cannes), Mad Bastards (Sundance), Satellite Boy (Berlin and Toronto), and Dreamland (Busan).

Mystery Road opened the 2013 Sydney Film Festival and garnered many awards including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor at both the 2014 Australian Film Critics Association and the 2014 FCCA Awards for Australian Film.

2016 will see the release of Bunya’s latest feature Goldstone written and directed by Ivan Sen and, in partnership with Porchlight Films, the Rachel Perkins’ feature Jasper Jones.

In 2015 Greer Simpkin, a former Deputy Head of Fiction at the ABC, joined the company specifically to develop a television slate. Bunya is currently producing a 2 x 30’ television documentary series The Shadowland to air on ABC TV’s Compass series, as well as a 3 x 60’ drama documentary series Blue Water Empire for the ABC Indigenous department.
